Question

Hi all,

I know there's been loads of talk & posts about ECU's & the level of knowledge just seems to keep growing on the board, with people now being able to read maps from the ECU's - change them & optomise them.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with some ECU history.

I have two ECU's at my disposal labelled 3B & Z4 - images of stickers below.

3B Label

Z4 Label

I have taken pics of the insides (not the best quality).

3B ECU Inside

From the top left hand corner you can see a range of soldered blobs where a chip could be plugged in but it's been soldered. You can see the difference from the Z4 in the next image.

Z4 ECU Inside

Here you can see that the slodered blobs are not there - but an adaptor like piece of plastic for pluggin in another chip.

Below is an image with this adaptor being filled.

As you can see it's not an actual chip but an extra board containing a few chips on it.

Does anyone have any info on any of the above?

Regards

Johny.

hehehe!

Adaptor board is from Grid in japan, similar to what you might find at www.scoobyecu.co.uk

Roms are 2 27c256 parts, with odd and even bytes of a modified ecu file.

Might be part of a japanese effort, or possibly a Power Engineering phase 1 conversion.

Look for the "DIY ecu remap" thread in drivetrain.

People are working on this.

Pavlo,

Cheers for replying - just got there before I could reply about the other ECu thread.

Grid - any info on them - the car is a MY 95 WRX & boost cut on the Z4 is around 1.2Bar.

I got offered the other ECU cheaply - told it was a UK one.

Would be interested in knowing what's on the other board though.

Might be interested in packing it of to someone - for their perusal - I'm getting lost in who's involved in the ECU research etc.

Will take better pics of the external board - but here's the layout

& markings on the chips IC 4 & 5

Regards

Johny.

ECU Adaptor looks the same as the one shown here http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=133020

Devices are not programmed ODD/EVEN, see my last post on the other thread for more details.....

The Map on that adaptor was very poor IMHO .
