All,

Has anyone else here been having slow starting in the recent cold morning on their Sti7. Mine turns over ok, but for a few seconds the revs are at about 500 before picking up to 1000'ish. Doesn't seem right to me..

Thanks
Gareth

I have had something similar on my STi7. As the weather has got colder I have noticed on starting that it only just catches and peters slowly into life. A couple of times it did not catch first time and then it took many attempts to start.

I mentioned the occasional poor starting to my dealer when I took the car in for an oil change at 5500 miles last week. They cleared the ECU memory and it now seems better, although the weather has been warmer since and I haven't used the car much.

Also before the ECU reset the car had always been very sluggish for the first 1/4 mile, unlike like my previous Turbo. Now it is less sluggish than before, but still not like my old Turbo.

Pretty much the same as well, STi7 UK.....

I find best not to even go near the throttle for the first 30 seconds when starting from cold morning temps.

Thats ok then, it's not just me. I will ask my dealer, but I don't intend to go there until may.

Cheers

Funny enough - read your thread, then jumped in my 2002 Sti7 after it had been standing in the cold all day what do you know experienced the same sluggish start up. Have had no probs before but will keep an eye on it as the temp drops. Maybe common a few cars then..

I guess we will now hear from the pre-1999 crowd who's cars start every time whatever the temp. Lifes a bitch.

Unhappy

I had the same on my My99, until they changed the plugs. Maybe i'll get Subaru to try that.

Arron,

What oil do you use?. On my first service I supplied some very expensive 15/50 which was recomended on here. I think it may have been Mobile 1.
