Exclamation

I have just fitted a quickshift, but now I can't engage the gearbox deadlock.

Has anyone else had this problem?
How did you get around it?
Can the deadlock easily be moved/reset to the new position?

Any help or suggestions greatly recieved

Thanks Anthony.

Hello
I couldn't fit a quick shift for this very reason.
I had my deadlock fitted nearly three years ago and they are welded to the car so not easily moved unfortunately (or should that be fortunately as it stopps the buggers driving off in your car!!!). I just have to shift slowly!

Antony,i take it you've had the full quickshift fitted not just the gear lever itself,if its the full unit go and get it back from whoever fitted it and get the bracket that is welded to the lower side and have it re-welded onto your new quickshift assembly, if not contact Barrier Deadlock in liverpool and they can tell you where to have a new bracket fitted.

Thanks for all the information.

The quickshift is just the gear lever(Rally Design), I didnt appreciate that the Deadlock is welded in place, will have to give this some serious thought.

Not that impressed with this mod at the moment the gearshift travel hasnt been reduced by that much.

Zippy I didnt relise that some of the quickshifts change the lower arm thought they all were just a change of gearstick is that not the case then? (Perhaps that why this it is so cheap! £55)

I might just put back the original and "slow shift" but have the security.

Thanks again any other thought appreciated.

Antony,as you have only changed the selector shaft you will just need to move the welded bracket thats on the underside of the selctor arm and re-weld it in the correct place.
Get a look underneath the car and you can see it very easily its just tack welded to the selector shaft.
The FULL unit i referred too is the one Prodrive amongst others fit have a look on the Graham Goode web site and you will see what i mean.
Any additional questions e-mail me as per my profile.
