Question

I'm now at 2,500 miles (in exactly 2 weeks!) and had the first service at 1,000. Question is; I'm finding the 'pick up' quite slow. EG, if I crawl up to a roundabout in 2nd and then boot it to go over it feels like a non turbo diesel! I had a 2.5 Legacy before that would fly in the same situation. In all gears the 'pick up' is slow until the turbo cuts in. Is it that it will loosen up over time or is there a problem? FWIW, my other half's 2.0 Sport has more zap at lower revs by miles, but it has 100,000 on the clock!

Cheers!

:-)

Mike

Sorry, it's a UK WRX, standard.

Like all cars, some are quick to start with, some are downright lazy. But a visit back to supplier and a check with the diagnostics may point to a sensor fault, you never know, might be something simple, but they are the people to go back to.

It's not normal turbo lag? Perhaps take a ride in another WRX to compare - speak nicely to your dealer if nothing else.

Wink

There is nothing to worry about
These cars take a few thousand miles under their belt to start to really get going, my MY00 was like a slug for about 5k miles then just got seriously better even my old Pug 306 GTi-6 felt quicker than my scoob when it was new
A few more miles under its belt and you should be ok
Also be warned that these cars have an emissions cut out in 2nd gear, if you sit there too long it reduces boost (euro type thing to stop us polluting the atmosphere ) so it may be that kicking in too

Mine is starting to feel a bit better in 1st and 2nd, but 4th and 5th feel like a 2CV. It almost seems to back off in 4th instead of boosting up...

Ah! Many thanks for the feedback!

I think that it is starting to get a bit more responsive now - I've added a thousand miles since my post (!) so am hopeful that it'll keep getting better. I drove a WRX with 13,000 miles on it and it seemed much more lusty - hope that's the right word!

:-)
