Can someone accuratley (sp) measure the restrictor hole size for me?

I've misplaced mine and need to make a new one.

Question

David,

I thinks there's actually two restrictors:

1st Between turbo nipple & Boost solenoid.
2nd Between Bost Solenoid & Air box

None Between Boost Solenoid & Turbo Actuator as far as I'm aware.

Chris,

PS - Think I may have a couple of spare UK 95s at home if that's any help?

I can't measure it, but it seems not too important.

If you want to use restrictors as we discused, then just making your own would be fine, say 1, 1.2, 1.4 mm holes ought to be a good start.

I think the stock restrictor is about 2mm, quite large.

If fitting one in the high pressure line to the solenoid, putting it as close to the solenoid as possible should do the trick.

The restrictor is in the solenoid vent pipe and is 2.0 mm, there are no others fitted on the MY92-96 cars.

I wouldn't bother with it David, not for now. I'm not sure they are even required as standard, my boost control was smoother without it.

you may find you will get better engine performance with it fitted as it delays the bleed to the wastegate. If removed, the gate opens too fast and you loose boost pressure.
Normally the restrictor size varies from 1.2 - 1.3 mm, nothing is fitted normally over that.
You can "play" with the boost settings simply, by soldering up the pin hole, then re drilling the hole with initially a 0.8mm drill, then, progressively drilling out untill you get the best setting for your own needs. simple, cheap and costs next to nothing to do, other than a trip to a diy shop to get some drills.

Scoobyslut,

THe resitrictor in a pre97 has a completely different purpose to that of the later ones.

So in the case of the pre97 the restrictor sits between the vacuum side of the turbo and the actuator bleed. If you made it smaller, it would prevent the air being bled off.

Pre97 have a 3 port solenoid, and generally very different boost control plumbing
