Turbo Whistling????
#1
Hey up fellow Scooby Ne(u)tters...
I run a H&S DP with Magnex CS & BB. Living with the whistling noise now but getting paranoid about the 'chattery' type noise.
Is this normal? The only thing that I think of is that maybe one of the turbo bearings has gone, but then this would have been evident prior to the DP being fitted wouldn't it and I'm sure I'd really know about it by now?
Could all just be the voices in my head (the ones that have possessed my right foot too!).
All help appreciated folks...

The whistling turned up with the DP change, yes? (Normal if it did...) The chattering - any chance of a better description? And when does it chatter (presumably when lifting off)?

Yeah Nom, whistling did turn up with DP change - I was told to expect that.
The chattering noise is more apparent when at lower revs - when I nail it, I don't seem to notice it as much. Sounds like a stuttering whistling noise rather than the smooth whistle you'd get from a turbo diesel etc.
Cheers...

Agreed - experienced exactly the same after my DP change. I only really notice it when in 4th & 5th as the revs don't run out quickly but it is still on full boost.
I described it as a "flicking" sound. Tis the wastegate
