Servicing - What should I do?

Probably been asked a thousand times, but, my MY98 has full Scooby (local garage supplied and serviced the car since new) SH.
The next service is the 45000
so its going to cost a fortune, should I keep the car full Scooby SH or go to one of the specialist, I thought about TSL but its over 200 mile away so a round journey will cost me another 60-70 squid in petrol from Bournemouth.
Can anyone recommend anyone slightly nearer, or just they view on what I should do.
Thanks
Dan

How much value are you likely to lose from a MY98 by not having it main dealer serviced?
I worked out that it really wasn't worth the money to get my MY96 dealer serviced (or even visit specialists for servicing) provided I could do the work reasonably well myself. (OK, so I make the car harder to sell, and it will sell for less, but I haven't had to pay out for the quite expensive labour costs.
OK, and apart from the door (now fixed
) and the front splitter (too wet and miserable outside
) I don't think anyone could call my car badly maintained.
I suppose it depends on how much spare time you have to crawl around under cars...

All things being equal, if you can afford to have it done at a Subaru dealer I would because of the cambelt. Fenny Compton near Banbury was £370 all in (cheaper than most in the SE). If you are going to keep it for a few years though, I'd use a specialist - who can still stamp the book for you.
The 60k one is similar in cost by the way.

You could try Dave West of Risborough 4wd. He is based in Princess Risborough, Bucks. It will take you 1.5hrs all being well up the A34. He charges £40p/hr and the last time I had the 45k done it cost me £300 (or very close to that)
