MY93 WRX Hesitation

What boost is it doing at the time? I remember when I had problems it kept hesitating when I get to 0.5 bar or something. Or it could be the overboost cut, but thats a violent thud.
Try resetting your ECU by disconnecting the battery overnight.

Try the plugs or better yet regap your plugs to see if its the coilpacks. I forgot by how much and see if someone can help out.
Wait did you say you sprayed a lot of injector cleaner into your airbox? As in directly to your MAF sensor?

Hi All.
I've just read "Dicky Ticker"s post bu don't know if the same applies for me.
I have just purchased an MY93 (k reg) WRX and have noticed there's (What I would call) a lot of hesitation when accelerating heavily from about 4,500-6,000 revs.
I drive under 3,000 rpm until warmed up.
I'm running on Superunleaded as that's what the previous owner used and left it filled up with.
Jon
Ps. Recently had new coils (1.8k miles ago)

Boosting at??
And no, the lights not on.
My brother's just told me it's not a LOT of hesitation, just me being paranoid, and probably the plugs or just needs some injector system cleaner spray spraying in thru the airbox. :/
Does this sound likely?
The car's only done 1.8k miles in last 12 months.
Jon
Sorry, I'm a dunce.

Yeah. but I did it the quick way by fidling underneath the dash (black on black plug and green on green plug, run the engine until the check engine light pulses). Disconnecting the battery takes too long for me

Ok, did the ecu reset...no difference.
So...put a bottle of STP injector cleaner in and.... No different.
Prayed some Wynn's Injector Cleaner into the Intake etc.... No Difference.
So I'm guessing Plugs??
It's reaching 0.5 bar often and only about 0.75 the rest of the time! If I accelerate GENTLY, it get 0.8 ish almost ALL the time. But as soon as I put my foot down, it hesitates.
Anyone have any other ideas? Or does plugs sound likely??

No no, I sprayed it in BEHIND the maf sensor.
Not LOADS, ran a bit smoother but still hesitatin.
I try the plugs then, and see if anyone knows what to regap them too!
Cheers Katana, you've been a great help!

Ive got a K reg My93 wrx, and i suffered exact problem, same rev range etc
drives perfect when not under load,
It turned out to be the plug gap. i was running 1.1mm as factory spec platinums ...
The plug gap i was advised to try was 0.7mm, reset them, left the battery off for an hour to reset the ecu ...and now it runs like a dream..
i had tried boost solenoid ( clean and replace)
changed the MAF sensor
new Dump valve
new air filter
i did check the coil packs ..the resistance across them is around 1ohm... mine where ok,
Hope the above helps..... i also use optimax as much as i can do, normal works ok, but for the xtra 4p a litre optimax seems to help.

I had a similar problem with my MY93 WRX I took it to Power Engineering and they put it on the rolling road and there was a couple of very large dips in the tourqe and power curves they told me this was due to a problem that can occur with the ECU map and the cure was to upgrade the map to the later 260ps map well wether this was the main problem or not is certinaly makes a differance not only to the curves produced on the rolling road but to the drive on the road tit is even better than it was and I love it to death but all else fails I would sugest looking into upgrading the ECU and if you are paying for it (mine was done under waranty) then try looking into getting it done by one of the guys fron this forum as it is a few hundred!! quid cheeper
hope this helps
