Question

Hello,

I'm looking to build myself a select monitor (interface and software) for an Impreza GT MY98.

I found some information about the layout at that internet adresses but I don't know really how it works.

http://subaru.piim.ee
http://lillith.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp/~kashima/car/gc8-e.html

The scematics I could extract are these :

The second link behind explain how are the adresses and how the select monitor must be plugged.

I've already some questions :
- I don't have yellow connector on my scooby, but only one ODB-II
- Which pin of the ODB-II connector are TX and RX ?
- I don't understand why there are two shematics layout ...

And the last one :
- Does anyone have a software for that select monitor model...

Thanks a lot, and excuse me for my english not very good.

Cool

Pablo,

first schematic is for connecting the select port to the serial port of your computer.

second is a circuit for a microcontroller to control and LCD screen to display information out of the ECU.
A similar project has been undertaken by AndrewC. have a look at his website, it's very informative! & has info about connecting to the OBD-II connector as well.

If you want to look at parameters in the ECU then I would suggest you build the 1st one & play with that.
There is no software availible to read out of the select port, apart from some that a few people on ScoobyNet have written themselves. most of which I think are far from finished yet ! (including mine!)

The other thing is that all of the monitoring parameters are in different places for different years of cars, so some information from the sites you have, may not be right for you MY of car!

hope that helps some!

cheers
Steve

Thanks ScoobyDuck,

What model of ECU do you have ? Mine is the 22611 AD200 A18-000 D32 8302 (Impreza MY98)

I know that the software should be adapted to the correct ECU of the car : that explain there are so many softwares. Which protocole does my ECU use ?

Do you need help for your software ?

Pablo,

That serial number is a std MY98 ECU.

The select protocol information on my website should be correct for your ECU.

Andrew...

Pablo,

if you car has an OBD-II connector, then it MIGHT talk ODB, but I dont think they actually got it to work until MY99's!
my car is a 97, so it's only 'funny yellow' on mine!

software is turning out to be a nightmare, mainly because of windows timing. havent done much to it of late, but it works on an ecu that will send multiple bytes back (post 96) & that has the data values in the same place as mine!
yours might be the same. it's the funny model, kind of phase 1.5 (i.e. not a phase 1, nor a phase 2 .. but bits of both! more phase 2 than 1 tho!)

what are you wanting to do when you talk to your ECU? or are you just curious, like the rest of us !!??

My Impreza was bought on 08/98, that's why I thought it was a MY99.

I started to search information about this model and when I decide to plug the electronic interface, I saw I don't have a 7xx ECU !!!

I'm re-started my researches, but for MY98 car's !

Why I'm very interrested by the select monitor ? I'm not only curious. On the webclub-subaru (in France), some ingeneers have made a power box (like Power System) for the Impreza.

Because of there box is fully adjustable (boost target, air/fuel ratio...) and I would like to get the relialability of my Impreza, I need a select monitor to control first my car bafore to plug our new cheap box (less than 70 Euros). The parameter "Knock correction" interests me...

Could I download a software on your website AndrewC, that will be compatible with my electronic interface ?

Thank's a lot !

I've seen the scoobymonitor website, and I would like to know if the ECU monitor (with LCD panel) could be buy directly ?

I think it is directly plugged on the ODB-II connector to work, but how can I do to connect it to a computer too ?

How is made the shiftlight ? I've already made one, but not really test it !!!

Do you have by this type of select monitor Fizz ?
How all these parameters are calculated ? By the ECU ?

In this case, is it compatible with all models of Impreza ?

Thanks
