I seem to have a petrol smell coming from the offside rear of the car. Notice it most when starting car up.Not yet had time to take a look, don't even know where the petrol pump or filter is, as I've just got the car.
Anybody got any ideas ??

I bet it is coming from your exhaust!

My car stinks of petrol when you start it.
The mixture is a lot richer on startup.
I think it is because the engine tries to get the Cat warm, or something...am a bit drunk so memory isn't working, but the easiest way to look at it is:

The ECU has pulled the choke out
The smell should go away after a drive?

If it persists....could be mild overfuelling. All sorts of things could cause that: Have you just fitted a dump valve?

Car is as standard, not fitted anything new yet !!
Only appears at start up.
I'll get under it later & have a look when ignition is first switched on.
