Arguably a 3 inch system will give you more power but is too loud for my tastes.
You could argue that the Japanese systems - Blitz, Trust, HKS etc tend to give the biggest gains although many do not like the HKS downpipe. Scoobysport also seem highly rated, as do Hayward and Scott. I have a Magnex which is a bit quieter, but not the freest flowing exhaust about I suspect, but I live with it on a day to day basis, and it doesn't seem to stop my car making substantial top end power, totally ballistic from 6000-7000 RPM.
You will be wanting to do the up-pipe, downpipe, centre and backbox.
The other thing to consider is that in some tests, exhausts do not add power to a WRX without ECU modifications. Other tests disagree.
