Get a red bulb from somewhere like TSL and fit it in the rear cluster, remove the drivers side reversing light and put it in there.

No, you would disconnect the reverse wires to that bulb and attach new wires from a switch in the front that youll also have to fit. You only need to use the reverse light holder as its conviniant that its already there!!!
Saying that I thought that the rear fog lamp conversion of your light was different to that. I thought you cut the light on the back in the position wear the UK car has a fog lamp and use that area. But im not sure, perhaps someone will be able to correct me on this issue
