Anyone know what the requirements are to get a car through an MOT without rear seats/seatbelts.

I'd like to strip out a car (not a scoob though) and remove pretty much all of non-essential the interior. Does the MOT go by the make/model of car or is it a bit more common sense (ie no rear seats=no need for rear seatbelts)

Talked to a m8 a whilst back about this (his work has an MOT station) and he advised me that if there are no rear seats and no rear seatbelts the MOT will only apply to the front seats & belts.
Apparently the whole seat & seatbelt has to be removed though otherwise it could be used as a seat.
He also told me that it`s another one of those "depends on the tester" scenarios so best to call the test station and advise the car has no rear seat/seatbelt first & gauge their reaction

You should not have a problem if you take out the rear seats and belts. I have a stripped out Beetle with just 2 front seats and belts ,and no door cards . MOT tester never said a thing !

Cool

I stripped my Rally mini clean, no rear seats / carpet / roof lining etc,

never had any problems - except from the police - who continually stopped me and asked 'what's the roll cage for ?' ?????!!!

They never booked me for anything and the MOT was always OK, so you should be alright...
