what the best way to quieten down the noise from inside the cabin?

WRX RA with Mongoose and HKS induction.

Thinking about sound proofing under the carpets and in then boot area, whats the best stuff to use, or is there a better method?

Also will be getting it undersealed in summer, so that should do something???

So youve bought an RA which has had stuff like sound proofing removed to make it light but now you want to add weight by putting sound proofing back in ??
Some ear plugs will only cost you 99p and wont add to the weight

Sorry i didnt mean it to sound as bad as it did, just seemed strange if you know what i mean
To answer you question though most car hifi shops sell sound proofing which is either like a felt that needs to be stuck on using glue or a flexible type of mat which had a sticky surfice to it.
There was a groop buy a while ago and i know Scooby_Si had some of the mat type left over that he was selling.

The most effective thing is to get rid of the noise 'at source', i.e. replace the headers or change the backbox to a quieter one. A quiet set of headers doesn't mean anything powerwise, but typically a quite backbox will be restrictive. And the compromises get very complicated
Moving swiftly on... Dynamat Extreme. It's not the crud that they put on at the factory, & doesn't do it's damping by weighing the car down like 'Brown Bread', etc. but it's expensive. Buy a load, stack out the boot (under the spare - if it's still there - and over the silencer); a double layer works a lot better than one.
That should quieten the exhaust; after that, it depends where the noise is coming from! Normally transmission from the suspension takes over from there which is a lot more bareable, and a lot harder to do anything about!
