Just typical.......What are these ?!

Just about to do the MAF job.
At casual glance i thought it was held in by allen screws or those star type jobbies (excuse my technical ignorance!), but on closer inspection they've got a little protruding nib on em which prevents any of my tools from fitting.
Any ideas where i can get the correct tool bits from - and what size they are?
Cheers,
Dave - MY00 WRX RA Ver6.

They're torx heads and set of diff size heads should be available from ur local DIY store
oops just read ur post properly , they have the 'security" feature, Im still fairly sure u can get a cheap set a t a local store with an indent in the bit which will allow it to bite the screw...

I believe the smaler Torx heads have this nub in the middle to stop people accidentally or not jamming allen keys int them and the corresponding Torx tool has an indent to take the nub so to speak, not getting to technical here am i

If you can't get anything to undo them it's possible to use a small screwdriver to break off the midle pin. Not the best way round it though.
Some torx bits have a hole in them and some don't, so be careful if you go out to buy a set...

Cheers Guys,
I was intending to give the MAF a clean, but having seen it (i just removed the short length of inlet duct/manifold in which it is housed) i can see that its spotless - as is every thing on the engine side of the air filter - no oil residue from the K&N panel filter at all.

I done this job recently and did'nt notice till I had the car in bits
They are security torx screws to stop you DIYing.
I got a cheap set of security bits (about 30 odd pieces) for £7 at my local motor parts store

DONT TRY AND FIX IT!
Seriously dont' do it mate, i thought i would do the same one day and stripped down my MAF and cleaned it with Carb cleaner only when i put it back i got a nice little light on my dash saying "CHECK ENGINE".
Cost me bloody £90 for a new sensor and there was nothing even wrong with it in the first place, just me and my bright idea that it might need a clean.
Mel.

Thanx Chaps, I was intending to change the Lambda sensor but when the replacement Second Hand one arrived from Grade A Subaru Breakers it was unusable - threads were comletely knackered.
So while under the bonnet i thought i would give the MAF an inspection and clean (if needed). As i've already said, it was spotless so it went back untouched.
Picking up a brand new Lambda from Beechdale Tomorrow which should hopefully clear the problem as discussed in the other threads.
