I thought it was a mechanical device with a gearbox that connects to the speedo cable before it fits to the gearbox?
I'd suggest you look for a company that can SVA jap imports, a few advertise in the Exchange and Mart.

I had on of those (little grey boxes) and went completely up the spout. Went to Eurospec 2000 in Camberley. Fitted a new one (behind the clocks) for less than £100 and even covered up the 'k' on the speedo
