Can anybody confirm if the 2003 UK WRX has a cat in the up-pipe or not? There has been information said by a very reliable source in Japan that it has been eliminated on all turbo Subaru's for this year. This would certainly be good since you wouldn't have to replace that with aftermarket. The WRX I saw at the world launch in Paris did have a cat in the up pipe but this may have been a preproduction car.

I suspect it will have an up pipe cat as the latest EU new vehicle tests are strict on start up emissions.

All of that about the new planar A/F sensor is close to Greek to me, but it sounded like it was possible to use that and somewhat make up for the difference. I don't know, but I'd be willing to bet that California emissions can't be too far off from EU. I do realize that US requirements aren't up to EU requirements yet, but the Impreza is a LEV (Low Emissions Vehicle) over in the west.

Pete, thanks for the reply and for your sake, I hope your right. For the customer, I hope I don't have to buy one.
