Flammer kits
#1
i have a flammer kit fitted to my scooby but theres one slight problem - i'm not getting any flames! i know there not guaranteed to work on all cars but i have seen plenty of other scoobys with them working.
i have a scorpion down-pipe de-cat and a blitz nur spec r centre and back box, and there is a strong spark from the spark plug. does anyone know of any possible reasons why it is not working?
thanks.

Where gay?...Oh sorry did you mean to say they're gay?
I'm sure if he wanted your opinion as to whether flamer kits batted for the other side he would have asked for it but as he didn't why don't you keep your opinions to yourself!
He came on here asking for advice & that's all. There are hundreds of people out there that dislike them but you don't here them slagging them off on this thread
Also mine flames without the aid of one as well & your car doesn't need to be mega powerful to get them either. A good zorst & dump valve for the richness & you'll be popping, banging & flaming all the time Either that or you could spend silly money on anti-lag Mmmmmm Anti-lag (In a Homer stylie ).

my scooby quite happily flames on its own as well, and like most of the other scoobynetters with a flamer kit i bought it for a bit of fun, can't see anything wrong with that.
(helps to keep people off your bumper as well if they're getting a bit close!)

lol @ flamer kits.
I am sure they are a lot of fun. Hell, I am sure underbody neons and uppy downy suspension are fun too. Just not my style, but you go for it guys
Out of interest, are the flames yellow or blue? All the GT Turbos I have seen flaming give big yellow plumes, and I'd rather have the nice little blue anti-lag type ones, please!
Where do I get anti-lag? And a spare turbo?

Midnight Racer,
How long have you had the kit?
When I had one, I put it on my STI-V (ScoobySport D/P and HKS Hiper) and it flamed about 2 mins after I fitted it - ask Gixerman
I used about 1.5 - 2mm on the plug gap.
It also worked when I was using the std ecu and dv (Rather than my old Link and Forge etc)

i got it pretty much when they came out (know the guys at scc) but have only fitted a front de-cat on saturday.
getting flames all the time now, mine lets out a small blue flame which disappears just before a big yellow/blue flame comes out. i'm also getting flames on gear changes which looks great imo.(espically when racing someone!)

For what exactly?
Flames coming out of your exhaust All cars do it (Diesels etc exempt) to a greater or lesser degree. Certainly a decatted Turbo car (Any make) will let one go every now and again.
It might attract unwanted attention which subsequently leads to the law examining the car further, but getting points for having a flamer kit/flaming car, C'mon
It can't be perceived as dangerous to the vehicle or other road users, and frankly if my car spat a flame out which made the car behind crash, well they were not fit to be driving in the first place IMHO

I HAD 1 FITTED TO MY LAST CLASSIC AN IT FLAMED GREAT EVERY TIME I CHANGED GEAR OR IF I JUST GIVE IT A GOOD REV IT WOULD FLAME AS THE REV'S DROPPED OFF, I HAD THE SPARK PLUG FITTED IN THE SIDE OF THE TAIL PIPE ABOUT 4 INCH'S FROM THE END.

I'm with Micky on this one,
Flamer kits are gay and for cars not well equipped enough to produce flames on their own.
Why not complete the chav look with a set of chrome effect spinning wheel trims??
