Is this the stuff they got in Halfords on Special Offer ?
just looked at what mine is, and it is the same Magnatec GTX 10-40
It seems ok, not sure if I will continue to use it for my next oil change
Mine is a MY00

No Probs
I had 5w-40 in before then, with a Fram Filter, and I got oil all over my drive !!
Basically the oil seal was a bit foobarred, but now I have an OE Filter, with Magnatec, and no more leaks

The general consensus amongst the experts on this forum is 10W40 is too thin, use 10W50, 15W50 or 10W60 fully synthetic oils. My 115000 mile 1998 saloon has run all its life on BP visco 5000 5W40 fully synthetic (dealer fill) and runs like a dream so I am not fully convinced, however I must be taking some of the posts on board as I put in 10W50 for a track day 2 weeks ago. The above listed Mobil/Castrol/Motul oils are proven to be good but I used Morris 10W50 and have used Millers oils on other cars to good effect.
Anyone else use Morris oils?? Or Millers??
I believe the theory behind the higher viscisity oils is to give the engine/turbo a better thicker protective film of oil at normal working temperatures, with the cold rating of 10W or 15W still being fine unless you live in Alaska...
