Question

Hi guys,

Thinking of getting an STI V6 Type-R

I have a niggle at the back of my mind that not many of these cars were imported as they had trouble with our fuel and the normal stress of the engine over any of the previous STIs. Can anyone please comment on this? Is this a safe car to buy, i do not mind using SUL and octane boost.

Thanks.

Ian.

You should be OK with SUL/Optimax and octane booster. Getting it remapped for UK fuel is another option.

Why re-map and loose the advantage which makes the Jap imports attractive in the first place?

Run it on good quality octane booster (NF, Pro-Boost) and Optimax and your RON should be 100+ which is what they were designed for.
