exact answer MY97 injectors BHP max?.
#1
Now I have read conflicting reports on this so I need a definative answer.
I am going to put a vf28 with gems on my my97 with an uprated fuel pump and an FSE type jobby.
Can my standard injectors what ever size they are cope with say 320 bhp????
God do I need to know if I need to grovel to the missus for more money

You are not going to get an exact answer unless you can say what BSFC you are going to run. You can run an extra bar of fuel pressure so that you will get full capacity flow at a safe 85% duty cycle if you run an uprated pump/reg. If you use 5.5 cc/BHP then you can work on 380*4/5.5 = 276 BHP max.
This seems low, so the traditional BSFC is either a bit high for our cars or we all talk BS rolling road figures
In short, change them and forget trying to get definitive one dimensional answers to such questions as things are not that simple.
Put it this way, with sensible AFRs, the injectors are usually on the edge on a mapped P1 at standard pressure and they are 440s.

440s will probably be cheaper because people may sell them when upgrading to 550s. However, it is further complicated because you have Phase I fuel rails. It would just be a shame to limit your top end power because you ran out of injector.

Nick.... need not be that expensive. A set of phase two 440 injectors can be had for about £100. Less if your lucky . You'll then need a little adaptor to make them suit phase 1 rails. Paul (Pavlo) is currently looking into having some of these made if there's enough interest. Drop him an e-mail.

Jonny... how would you know that .
Power wise i'd say a little more than 280 to 300bhp. The STi's came with 440s and 280bhp.... i think Subaru would have put a very big safety margin in there. I'd say 320bhp is more like the ceiling.... You have a pump and reg, is this adjustable. If so you could up the fuel pressure by 1 bar, this would potentially give you more flow (15%) and could see 350bhp..... ish.
