ok, got the car, now need more input (johnny five is still alive!!)

is the standard clutch up to it? starts to smell a bit under really heavy changing and accelleration.slip it in first too long and the smell is pungent.
theres no judder at all, but when changing up round the limiter it gives a slight skip before nailing it again, is this normal? like a bit of a squat almost.
what the hell is that little black thing that pretends to play wireless sounds from the dash?
should I be looking to put 16" s back on it as prodrive recommend or stick with the 17`s speedlines?
Sorry if these have been asked a million times but i only just got it and im too busy making up resons to go out and play than to do a full SC search...

When did Prodrive recommend 16's. Why would they do this when the P1 was fitted as standard with 17's.
My clutch is 47k old and does me fine.
What black thing are we talking about?

prodrive literature about imprezas says that 16" is the best match for performance, clutch is ok, changes like a charm, just smells now and again under heavy load.
black thing is a cr4p joke about the sh1te stereo.

Ahhhh radio It's the morning after you see. Easily sorted
I don't believe you'd notice any real performance gain from swapping to 16's as demonstrated by the amount of people who are trading up to 17's 18's and 19's. Obviously the main reason is looks, but if there was a major compromise involved, not as many people would go bigger.

Have you got any pics in the members gallery yet?

The 17's give you the best compromise in handling/ride/performance, the 16's i had on originally were no where near as good as the 17's i have on now (probably something to do with the bridgestone So2PP's ive got on though )
The standard clutch is good for a few hundred BHP (it can take upto 300bhp without problems) but if your going for silly power then you will need to change it.
That little pause you get when changing at the top is turbo lag, nothing that you can do about it unfortunately (no matter what people say, ie vta dv's etc) so you learn to drive around it

Def stick with the 17's, we put the 16's on a couple of weeks ago when we went to get the tracking sorted and I was glad to have the 17's back on You can always borrow our 16's to try it if you want to make a decision (assuming you havn't got the original 16's yourself!)

...so...how about that backbox? Is the exhaust standard? Changing that was the best thing we ever did

Cool

clutch shouldn't really slip too much unless it's on it's last legs or your red lining it & side steping clutch I'd be intreged if your bite point is right at the top of lift off as this was wot mine was like b4 it got seriously poorly when the revs shot up & the speed didnt at anything over 2500rpm or so. 2 weeks of driving off turbo & 1 new AP racign organic & it was great to have the power back
To summarise most clutches will smell if putting large loads on it but until yer getting rev increase without speed going up shudnt worry but when it does get replaced with better un ASAP b4 u muller flywheel
Wheels i went from standard 15's to 17"ers when i realised rubber woz shyte & then went up to 18s when 17s couldnt take the bigger brakes i got basically turns in much better but is harsher over bumps with even more so better turn in & harshness again going up2 18s & looks boss I prefer the 18s but each to their own as already mentioned depends how u like it

smell is with lots of 1st gear slow work, used to drive a vectra and had to basically keep the clutch part in, she flies to the red line no worries bite point is quite low down the peddle actually. also its most noticeable with the heater on cold on full power on the dash vents, switch to circ and its gone.

Im still lovin life...
