CEL - Cam Sensor
#1
Had the CEL come on a couple of months ago and my dealer said the cam sensor needed replacing, so they put in a new sensor.
The CEL came on again last week and after going back to my dealer they said the same error was back with the new cam sensor.
The car is a MY02 Turbo. Seems a bit strange to me for 2 sensors to go and the car has been running fine on both faulty sensors.
The dealer is going to replace the sensor again this week, but was wondering if anybody else has had similiar problems or if something else could be causing this issue.

Ecomm, a story from my cavalier days. I had a CEL, pointed to cam
or crank sensor, i cant remember which now.
The car would run very rough, then CEL would come on.
Took it to a vauxhall dealer to sort out.
They charge X pounds to put their tester on,(to confirm what is faulty)
They then replace the faulty component in acc with the shown fault.
They sometimes do not think any further than this, I took the car away, 2 days later same fault. This time they changed the other sensor (crank), I dont know why, if they changed the cam the first time, in acc with their tester.
By now i think their guessing.
so far they have charged me for the test, & both cam & crank sensors.
Fault reappeared. My brother-in-law kindly drove to Southampton with low loader, and took it from the vauhall dealers.
Fault traced to ECU connector shorting out, due to a rubber boot
filling up with water every time it rained heavily.
phew sorry its so long.
Moral of story, some garages/dealers will not fully investigate the fault, and it is you that suffers.plus unless its a warranty job, your paying thru the nose.
Sometimes taking your car to a non-dealer garage is better.
Because they do not have the full diagnostics, and have better individual fault diagnosis skills than those that rely on a peice of electronics all the time.
