Warning - Knocklink plug
#1
Just thought I'd warn people who've recently bought a knocklink.
I was checking mine over when I noticed that the wires from the knock sensor cables (black and brown) were exposed about an inch short of the connector block. Fair enough, if they are shrink-wrapped, but what worried me more was that some of the bare wires hadn't been crimped and were actually touching the connector of the other terminal for the knock sensor - causing a short.
I maybe unlucky with a dodgy batch , but I thought I'd let you know to check before you fire yours up and it blows the sensor.
My knocklink came in a pre-sealed bag, so it must have been like that when it left Link Systems in Oz.

my knocklink sensor arrived with onlt 1 of the little electrical connectors. This too came in a sealed bag, so must be the fault of the manufacturer.
I have still not managed to find one of these small connectors, thus I still have a knocklink sat in the drawer 2 months after I have bought it

Gedi,
The Knock monitor itself should have a short wire + a 4-pin female connector. Then you should have a wiring loom with one end having a 4-pin male connector (shown in the pic) and the other end bare.
Which connector are you missing. Is it the one connecting the bare wires to the actual sensor in the engine bay??
If so you need to buy this (it's a seperate Bosch part) and costs around £10.
If it's the actual ones attached to the display or the wiring loom, then I think it's an AMP (or possibly Molex) connector and would be available through Farnell or RS Components.

The connector I was missing was one of the two silver connectors that are crimped onto the bare wires. These 'two' connectors then slide into a holder and plug directly into the sensor.
I rang the supplier, but they don't belive me.
I think I may have managedto source one from Rich Wild, but I haven't been able to drop by his way yet.
