acceleration problems

Evening mate
Just a thought but first port of call must be to check you ECU for fault codes. You will need to get have a look at the base of your steering column for 2 green and 2 black connectors. You will more than likely need to lay on your back with your head in the drivers side foot well. Look closely cos they should be there. You will need to connect the 2 black connectors and just turn on the ignition - DONT START THE CAR ! An ECU light should then flash at you. if it flashes on and off in time then you have no faults if however it flashes intermitantly then you have probably got a fault logged.
You can do a search on SN for ECU codes or reading CEL 's - there are loads of previous threads on the issue.
hope this helps

I had this problem with my 93WRX, I got a 95WRX ECU and all my ills were cured.
You could also check for air leaks i.e. check the piping under the intercooler, check the air filter pipes any sort of air leak will cause the same effect

i have tested the ecu and apparently have no faults, i just today replaced plugs with ngk pfr6b's the clutch is fine as i tested on very big hill, i have k&n filter which still seems to be clean. its as though when you hard accelerate it seems to be going well then all of a sudden it gets a drop in power for second or so

To my knowledge it is the coil packs, it is a very common problem on the subaru's. When new spark plugs are fitted, they sometimes damage the coil whilst being installed.
There are four coil packs (1 for each plug), usually its just the one coil pack which needs to be replaced. Price for 1 coil pack should be around 50.00+ pounds inc. installation.
Hope this helps
