Unhappy

Just beed out for a drive, doing about 60mph and the check engine light came on. I was nowhere near home so I carried on, car feels fine. About 1 mile away from home (8 miles on) and the light went out.

What might this mean? Car is a P1 and it feels ok to drive, I'm worried that driving it might damage it now even though the light went out.

Help!

Couldn't possibly tell you without knowing what the error code is!

Connect the read memory connectors under the dash and turn the ignition on, and make note of the CEL light flash sequence. Long flashes are 10's, and short flashes 1's, so, for example, two long flashes and three short ones = error code 23, and so-on.

I supose it may be a sensor of some sort on the way out, ie, intermitent fault.
Do what greasemonkey sugested and it may give you a clue as to what system is at fault. There again, dont be too suprised if it tells you nothing.

Sorry about this but I've never connected these wires before. Under the dash I've found a green male/female pair of connectors (unplugged) and a black pair of male/female connectors (again unplugged)

Which pair do I connect?

I think I'm answering all of my own questions today. I think it's the Lambda sensor. Doesn't really surprise me as I've decatted and catted my car more times than I can remember. I know I'm not going to be able to get this replace on warranty because it looks like it's been in and out of more exhausts than anything.

Does anyone know the bosche part no so I can get a replacement that doesn't involve going to Subaru Dealer?

L300 from Halfords

Halfords code is 180398 Oxygen Sensor and is only 25 quid, although you will have to bugger about with the connectors

I did it on mine, didnt take long, and I did it without taking the heathshield or intercooler off too

BTW Mickle, I finally got round to fitting the Magnex DP was an easy job really, and I put the Heathshield back on

It does fit quite snug up against the gearbox, so I didnt need to get a bracket welded on it

Cheers

Steve
