Flock off Craig!

You know those black furry looking dashboards the current World Rally Cars have? They're flocked...

PS, sorry Scooby, looked for some pics of my old car, but couldn't find any.

PPS, keep going Griff, you'll get the link working in the end

Question

Have to say that does look rather nice.

ukbob,

Are there different colors available other than black ? I've got a DBM MY99 model and was wondering about a dark blue to match the color of the car.

How difficult is it to get the dash off in order to let you do the flocking ?

Glenn, you can get pretty much any colour you can imagine. I got the dash on my last car done dark blue for the same reasons you're thinking, although this time I'll probably go for black.

The other thing that hasn't been mentioned on the thread so far is how much the flocking cuts down on the in-cabin noise levels. In fact, it does this so well that I've been thinking of having the door cards and pillar liner mouldings done this time as well!

Question

I had a look at my dash last night. My car is an MY99 and it has a passenger side airbag. If I were to take the dash out what happens about the cover panel over the airbag ? I don't really want the airbag to go off in my face

Has anyone removed a dash like this before ? If so, what do you have to be careful about ?
