Location of spark plugs

Have you done a diagnostic check?
Details of how to here
The early Imprezas have indervidual coils on each plug, so no HT leads to follow
To locate the plugs look down between the battery and the engine. There will be two ports in the "side" of the engine. If you unscrew the bolt holding the cover/coil on you can remove the coil and then get a plug spanner on the plug deep in the engine.
You will have to remove the washer bottle to get access!
It's the same for the other side, but you may have to remove the Air box!
It's not easy!!!
*Tip* Remove the rubber in the plug spanner before using it to refit the plugs
Good luck.

And just to make it worse, you'l need a proper plug socket which is a smaller size than most plugs (i cant remember size) and an exstension bar of suitable lenght.
You then have to be very carefull you hold it all sqaure so as not to snap the ceramic plug towers of the plugs!
Yes, its an **** ache
