I've been asked which turbo is fitted to my 93 WRX SA because they need to know to be able to re-map the ECU. Does any body know what turbo's were fitted to the various models. Mines abit odd in being an SA its missing a few bits of skirting on a normal WRX and has a slightly more standard looking interior. All i can find is that it left the factory with 220 horses???

Hang fire.... isn't the SA a wagon? It could well be a TD04.... i may be way off the mark tho so the easiest way is to look at the turbo, somewhere underneath where the actauator is it will have the turbo number on it.

Yes it is a wagon, so guess I'm gonna have to try and find a number on it, I heard it wasn't easy to see short of taking the turbo out? Cheers for the info........

The TD04 is a smaller turbo... i'd double check what you have before going into a deep depresion . There have been early wagons with TD05's . Double check to be sure because there seems to be no set rules as to what's fitted to what where Subarus are concerned.

TD04 came with my97.U should have TD05 which bigger , laggier and very capable for higher hp provided u alter inlet angle etc.

PS.TD05 is a very popular mod in OZ especially if high flowed?

He said he had a WAGON so i don't think your right to say he SHOULD have a TD05! The saloons all came with TD05's, some of the wagons did not which explains some of the lost power (wagons were 220PS while saloons 240PS).

As siad before he needs to check this...

Reading another discussion, looks like dave wallis has run out of boards to change the ECU anyway, that was the whole reason for finding out.

The boards are worth waiting for. I've had mine for nearly a year now.... however i've just begun remapping it for myself. The 'off the shelf' maps are very good value for money tho. Be patient and it'll be worth it .

How are you mapping it yourself, have you got an EPROM programmer, and whats the off the shelf maps all about. Is that just the code you program it with for desired result?

I have read that the SA non-STi only came in an automatic and the SA STi only came in manual. The SA STi came with the TD05, the normal SA came with the TD04.

I had a look at the turbo lastnight, got it up on ramps and had a look from underneath with a torch, couldn't see a thing so had a look from the top and thought I could see TD04 on the bracket that connected the turbo to the engine but nothing onthe turbo itself. Its not an automatic, what would be the differnece between and STI and none STI? Itsn't STI UK only?
