Took my auto switch out because it didnt light up and didnt seem to be working and the plug on the back is a different colour to the back of the switch. Found the plug that is the same colour plugged it in (tight fit) switched it on light in switch comes on so do sidelights! Havent had chance to drive it to see if it works but any ideas why the sidelights would come on?

I have a similar problem in that when I put my AUTO switch on, my side lights come on. When I posted this the other week I was told there is a spare connector that leads to the side lights. Basically the spare light connector and the AUTO SPRAY connector are identical and the lights are connected to my AUTO SPRAY switch. I haven't had chance to check yet because I am busy at work.
This sounds similar to your problem.
