Question

Fitting the above, does the bottom tube from the boost solenoid get connected to the alloy elbow? Or the tube that comes from the thing that looks like a dump valve by the front of the car.

I think it's the boost solenoind tube but it doesn't reach the connector on the alloy elbow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers James.

Had to use a piece of pipe from the garage a the pipe from the BSolenoid wasn't long enough.

I guess the other pipe that was connected to the top of the air box just goes loose??

After fitting and driving. The spare hose that is free seems to be part of the recirc dump valve. I know 'cause I can hear the woosh of dumped air. Is it ok to leave this free?

Hi,

It has better throttle response and feels more eager. Only took it round the block a couple of times last night.

The extra noise of the d/v is heard through the air filter mate, it's because you haven't got the std airbox etc masking the noise of the d/v venting into the inlet pipe.

I can't think what pipe you are on about that you have left off

Question

When you stand at the front of the car, just behind the radiator on the left hand side is a little pot, not unlike the dump valve, has three tubes, one from the bottom which leads to the engine somewhere, one from near the radiator, and one that comes from the top of it and went in to the top of the original expansion chamber after the elbow. It's the same tube that is cliped in around the top of the original airbox.

Any ideas?

Popped along to Cheam and found it's the Fuel vapor return to the inlet system. Only deposits back on the over run. Currently bloked off now to stop vapor into the engine bay.

Some one with an HKS SPF on a 96 must be out ther with comments about this.....

right, well the pipes from the charcoal filter don't go to the inlet elbow do they, may be different on your car, but I'm not sure.

On my car, if you look just under the header tank for the water system, you can see 2 metal pipes, these pipes are where the charcoal filter pipes go on my car.

where do the pipes go on the original setup?, it seems to me perhaps there is 2 locations on the airbox/inlet for solenoid waste and charcoal filter and on the SPF kit there is just 1?

If this is so and they both went to the same place, why not just get a tee piece and plum them both into the pipe on the inlet.

Just be sure that the pipe from the charcoal filter went there in the first place.

Cool

Fitted one of these to my car yesterday, Induction noise is interesting??!! and on the overrun with the dump valve. However the best bit is that the car is now running a peak boost of 1.0 bar instead of .92 so I'm happy, just keeping an eye on the knocklink now!!

Cheers

Ivan

Well the fuel vapor return has been blanked of and a trip to Lakeside resulted in no problems.

I love the recirc dump valve noise.

I too have noticed that the car definately pulls harder in all gears. It feels less strained in second and 3rd now. Lovely bit of kit. Roll on the next mod.

Cheers for all advice.
