weird noise

last nite just crusing then suddenley a weird buzzing/whining loud noise started coming from wot it sound like the front wheel. When breakin sound was still going but getting quiter. The sound would continue after stopping for a few more seconds?? any ideas?

update, sounds like its comming from the back of the car. does sound like the dics are scraping but their are no scrap/warp marks on dics!! any ideas

i've had a simlar experience once or twice, even caused me to stop and check that the wheel was still attached to the car...

apparently i read somewhere that bits of rust and stones can get stuck in the wheel somewhere and then they're essentially ground to bits - making a awful noise

Could be a wheel bearing, when you brake the pads pressing against the rotor reduce the play in the bearing

If it continues for a few seconds after you've stopped it can't be wheel bearings!
Maybe a noisy fuel pump?
