Just checked the coolant tank and I am on Minimum. Now what do I put in this? Water? Or is there a special coolant I need to put in?

If anyone can answer this quickly that would be great. I want to nip down to halfords.

You could buy coolant and mix it with distilled water (both from Halfords) typical mix is about 33% coolant. Or you can buy ready mixed stuff.

You may find it is a different colour, and that some are ethylene glycol based and others are not. I just bought Bluecol and distilled water.

Which tank are you checking, the metal one on the engine or the plastic one by the rad?

If you're looking at that one, you should expect to see it at the minimum mark when the engine is cold. Should move up the Max mark when the engine is hot.

The important tank is the one on the engine. As long as that's within a quarter inch or so of the neck when cold, everything's as it should be.

Thumbs up

Yeh, the header tank (alloy tank with pipes next to the turbo induction pipe) is the one you need to check. Don't use tap water as it's got lime in it - won't help your water pump and internals. You can boil the water first, but best buy dist water. Manual says use 50% coolant/50% water for rust prevention. More water does give better cooling though, at expense of internals...they do rust!
