I am currently trying to change the crank position sensor on MY93 WRX and apart from the fact that I am pi55ed off to learn that I have to take the i/c out to get to the sensors wire plug I am having great difficulty in just getting the old crank sensor out

There is not a lot of room to manouvre with the sensor where it is - and I would appreciate any assistance or advice in getting the old sensor out ?? anyone else have this problem

Please help a.s.a.p cos I am sat here tools in hand.

cheers

Crank sensors are easy...unless they are siezed in, which on older cars can be quite common. Then they are def not easy.
The only way I can reccommend to remove it, is to destroy it.
Break to top off, to try and expose the metal body, and remove the internals, leaving just the outside metal body. prise inwards the metal body, and spray some WD40 around it, and leave to penetrate around it. This should help loosen it up. Keep breaking it up, and it should eventually work out.
Be careful not to drop any bits of sensor into the cambelt area when breaking it up.

Applying a light smear of grease around the sides of new one, and cleaning up the hole is also a good idea, to make sure it doest sieze again.

Good idea mate - I will need to take the crank sensor out again soon (oil change needed) so I will grease it up at the same time.

Cheers again for you advice
