Turbo slowing down after ignition off
#1
Having installed Link ECU with ALS upgrade, there is a noise I hear when I turn off ignition. It sounds like a jet engine turning off but I suspect this is turbo slowing down after the engine is switched off. What worries me is there enough oil not to damage the turbo bearing or is there another way to stop turbo from spinning before I turn off the engine.
The car is MY 99 WRX Type RA (non-STI) with VF29 turbo.

Yes, to drive the last mile or so to your destination off boost or if you can't do that just let your engine idle for a minute or so before turning it off.
Without this you will cook the bearings.

I know the normal procedure but it seems that with ALS upgrade the turbo is spinning all the time (also on idle) so when I leave it for a couple of minutes to cool down the noise is still there when I switch off the engine.

All Vf turbo's do it!!
You could leave your car idling for two hours and it will still do it, The VF series turbo's have roller bearing cores which allow the shaft to spin much easier, when the car is idling the shaft still spins. When you switch off the turbo has to stop spinning, It is more noticeable on Vf turbo's.
