First rule of posting - tell us the MY

Is that a AE800/AE801 ECU? Does this help?

I fitted Defis at the weekend and one simple little wire has me stumped
I've read a load of threads on the fitting of AFR's but i can't seem to relate any to my ECU as i look at it.

Have you look at the MRT pdf? it has the wiring for a LHD ECU.

Also this old thread of John Banks?

I picked up the Lamda feed from the ECU connector B136 PIN 21 as John did
The large blocks are B134 (black), B135 (gray) and B136 (blue). So, that would be pin 21 on the blue connector for your ECU.

Can you confirm what colour that wire is on your ECU?

Haven't read about a light-green wire anywhere on the AFR posts

Yep, everyone mentioned white with silver spots.

When was your MY99 registered. Mine is from May, so I can have a look at mine and let you know what the colour of the wire is.

I've sent an email to Scoobymania too.
Someone has to know.
The upside of this is that while the AFR has power, it just reads rich all the time

Well everyone keeps saying it's Pin21 on that block. The pins the same for the majority of the ECU's, but the wire colour does depend on the MY. I think yours is different because it's a late 98 (early 99) model.

What about doing a continuity check with a digital multimeter? assuming the wires for the probes are long enough to stretch between the O2 signal wire and the ECU.

I guess what you need to know is which pin on a AE800 is for the O2 signal. If that happens to be green on your cars wiring loom, then so be it.

Can't believe no one else has responded to your post ; just this useless c*nt

hmm, I'd be a bit wary taping into any wire's unecessarily although some lecky tape around any exposed wire would put it back. Trouble is if that doesn't work, then which wires next??

Personally, I'd do a simple continuity check too make sure the signal wire on the lambda connector (disconnect it from the sensor) in the engine bay is actually going to that green wire for your ECU.

If the probes don't reach on your multimeter (you do have one?), then use some spare wire to extend them.

That should tell you for sure.

Stefan

If you secure one end of the probe to the O2 connector's signal wire, then you can probe more of the pins on the ECU block (if the green one doesn't work). If the multimeter beeps at you, then you've found the golden ticket

***NEWSFLASH***

The two wires off the llambda connector are white with silver spots and yellow with silver spots

Do you have a few metres of thin wire left over from the AFR install?

I ran two cables for my SPA gauge, but forgot to mark which was which and put them through 2m of trunking from the engine bay to my a-pilar.

I stripped both ends of some spare wire to expose about an inch of copper and wrapped this tightly around one end of my multimeter probe. The other end I wrapped around a paperclip and stuffed that into the socket on the first wire I wanted to check. That effectively extended the cable from the a-pillar into the engine bay. Then I just used the other probe to check which wire it was. It takes a little time to set it up, but it worked for me.

I'm gonna have a look on Saturday I'm doing a bit too much overtime this week to be bothered.
I'll let you know

While i'm here! There are two wires off the lambda sensor, if one goes to the ecu, then where does the other go?

I maybe wrong (so best check with others) but I think the ECU has signal wire & sensor ground. There was a
argument
(sorry discussion) on whether you should connect an AFR meter to this ground on the ECU or direct to the battery.

Details on the ECU wiring is at the bottom of this post.

What is all this waffle about then?

Just get the Link ECU manual and locate the pin by checking which way around you are compared to the diagram.

I never try to remember the colours

Don't foget that most of the info you have seen relates to looking at the back of the connector not the front so pin 21 is on the other side of the connector not where you have indicated.

Look into the ecu, its on the lower right side.
