Strange this one. Had this problem for months now, which sort of reflects how minor this problem is. But it gets right on my nerves.
MY98 with no mods. It happens when the car is hot and only in these circumstances.
90+ mph cruising on motorway, you let the car slow reducing the speed to around 70mph which is about 2900rpm in 5th gear on my car. The turbo is winding down, you re-apply gentle power and she splutters and coughs like there is a fuel starvation problem.
HT leads have been replaced.
It otherwise performs without fault.
Any ideas out there?

It's the sort of thing a VTA BOV does, i.e. fuelling's off. What you're doing is mucking about around the 'no pressure' point in the air inlet, which probably means that the MAF is playing silly buggers (feeding the ECU duff info). So there's a lack of fuel.
If nothing else strange is going on, I wouldn't get too concerned about it It's just something associated with the scoobs air inlet/MAF system.
