Remap for optimax
#1
I have just went from a MY97 WRX to a sti5 type r, do I need to get it remapped for optimax. If so how much and is there anywhere near aberdeen that can do this? I have ran my 97 WRX on optimax/SUL for 2 years without OB and had no problems.
Also will I loose any power if I get it remapped?
Cheers

If the car is unmodified, no you don't have to if you:
1. Run Optimax and octane booster (suggest NF 2ml/litre) all the time
2. Fit a knocklink
If you remap to Optimax then keeping the same boost level will lose you power because the ignition will be retarded. However, you can often get this back and a bit more by then increasing the boost. Obviously for a given octane level you can increase the boost too much so that you start to lose power again because you have to retard the ignition so much.
Alternatively to 1. you could run water injection, but you still need the knocklink.
