Question

Hi,

I own a jap imported MY93 1.6 impreza sport. About 3 months ago the rear wheel bearings failed. I have been trying to get hold of the bearings for ages now to find out that they are discontinued.

So my new solution is to change the rear hubs/drums etc to WRX/turbo disc settup.

My car has already had WRX/turbo brakes fitted to the front.

What I need to know is can the rear hubs/drums be swapped over i.e. are the drive shafts the same? Is the diff the same?

I understand through the workshop manual that the gearbox is the same.

Do 2.0ltr sports have rear drums? If so has anyone done any kind of conversion like this??

I seem to remember a white 2 door 1.6 on here around Christmas time that was in Ireland. The owner of that was planning a rear brake conversion, does anyone know what came of that???

Help needed please – I want my car back!!!

if you get the hubs complete it shouldn't be too dificult the mounts etc will be the same shaft sizes might be a problem though

you would need to make new brake pipes for the rear hub area as they will be different

handbrake is a drum in the middle of disc you should be able to just conect the cables up to your lever
