ive had most of the car fetled with

Apexi Power FC
Apexi AVCr
Apexi Turbo timer
HKS Decat
HKS Downpipe
HKS Hyper back box and center section
HKS Plugs
HKS Metal Flow Filter
Ap Organic clutch
Uprated fuel pump
FSE actuator
Re-Map for 1.25bar
Bosh coil packs
Cusco upper and lower, front and rear strut brases
18" supper legs
STI breaks

plus a few more things.

but i feel that after 60k it might be nice to change the turbo for a newer spec.

what should i be looking for, im not to bothered about power hikes as its just about right at the moment, but a quicker spool up time would be nice ( ball bearing ?? )..but apart from that...im lost

the car is a 95wrx

what sort of price am i looking at and what should i be looking into as with regards to models and makes..

cheers guys

all the best

If I were you, I'd leave the turbo as is.

You will be on the 90 degree entry TD05 at the moment I presume.

The problem is most other Scooby turbos are front entry and to do the conversion is quite an involved process, raising/swapping inlets etc. so it's quite a feat. Dunno if you are prepared for that or not.

But really, you should leave the turbo as is, it should be the last thing you want to swap. The TD05 is capable of big boost (1.5 bar+) all day so at 1.25 you are hardly working it. If mapped properly it can also spin up pretty much as quick as most other turbos (apart from the pencil sharpener sized ones ). Mine was hitting 1.0 bar at 2800-3000rpm when I had exactly the same turbo as you but with a Link ECU.

Keep it and spend the dosh on something else.

i have just cut the top of my new up pipe to my headers and twisted the turbo towards the front fendor, this way you can do away with the two 90 degree bends, need to make up a new dump pipe, dropped on a vf34 to replace the vf23, plus front mount i/c and a retuned link with bosch pump and 520cc injectors in modded fuel lines to a rising fuel reg... this i hope will spool up even faster than before, hope to have more than a bar @3000rpm..the rally people tell me that a straight entry turbo does make a difference.. what also gives more bite is removing the 3.9 diff for 4.11.. i trust this should make my old immaculate RS ****... its good site..

why didnt they do a lot of things, bloody bean counters keeping the cost down to compete against the opposition, forged piston and rods would have been nice as standard...
