Evening all, after reading notoriusrev's revalations about having one of these fitted, I decided to look a little further and contemplate buying one. I also got in contact with Scott and the more I read about it, the more convinced I became about buying one.
Thing is, I'd like to hear from more users of this "device" and hear more personal accounts of performance attributes and possible problems, if any .
The info available to me almost sells itself, just after a little clarification from the knowledgeable people on Snet. Can something so inexpensive improve bhp by 30 or 40 bhp?
Many thanx.

Cheers guys, hopefully will have more replies, but I think my mind is made up !
One Q, did u guys have to send your ecu off to have the adaptor fitted? I'd rather not have to be w/out my car and was it easy to get the carpet up and where is the ecu located, on floor ?

The way in which the extra power is gain is basically due to an increase in boost pressure, this extra pressure obviously puts extra strain on the engines internals, has anyone suffered from any problems related to this? Is reliability effected in any way?
Also from a warrenty point of view, if you have the standard ECU remapped (01, WRX) is there any visual way in which you can tell this has been done?

Parf, ScoobyECU is only for cars MY93-MY96(?) so it won't fit your car.
However, the power increase is not just down to boost, the fuel and timing maps are totally changed. Off boost performance is much improved, throttle response is better etc etc.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
And it depends on what map you use as well..
I havent had any engine failures yet.. but then again I dont accept any responsibility.

Had mine done approx 2 weeks ago and its great - more torque and revs lower at 100 (on the track of course) than its ever done. Am also getting approx 30 more miles out the tank - 240-250 instead of 210 (MY93 WRX)

revs lower @ 100 .. think that's rarther fixed by your gearbox & diffs !
all the maps are totally altered, and have been tried not only Scotts (old) car, but many many many others. dont have one myself as mines a MY97 (boo hoo) but seriously want one, if only I could!
basicly it does what a TEK2 / Tek2.5 does for 99-> cars .. changing the stupid stnd map, with leanspots etc (specially if you do d.pipe, induciton, etc) in the midrange, timing, & yes more boost - but not stupid boost. you could equate this to having a PPP fitted, but IMO better ! & WAY better value for money!
another vote for Scott (& David)

Sri Scott & David - here's another 20 phone calls for you !

Is a re-map available for MY97? I have an STi3 Wagon and will be fitting Headers and de-cat d/p and mid section next week, also a rr session the following week. When I asked the re-map question of the rr people they suggested a unichip but don't like the idea of that, from what I've read on here about chips.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be welcome.
Thanks

not through ScoobyECU
only options I've come up with are.
LINK (or other 3rd part replacement ECU - motec/gems etc)
PE Phase1 (basicly a scoobyecu for 97/98's
external boost & fuel computers (apexi)
unichip / equivalent.
basicly if you've got the phase 1.5 (97/98) with the straight intercooler, then you dont have much of a choice!

I've had mine for getting on a year now i think. Very good value for money..... plus im now remaping the ecu with my own maps which means it far less money than all the programmable ecu's out there but in some cases much more advanced IMHO (than the LINK say). The sky could be the limit (remember tweenierob got inexcess of 400bhp with a scoobyecu and David himself got over 340bhp before moving onto greater things).

Lol, but my boost control was not set up very well and i had a split inlet pipe, should have been closer to 440... (cant think of anymore excuses)
Would just like to say.. (hope he is ok about this) but no one has mentioned Pavlo in all of this regarding supply. Paul did an amazing job with my car and Andys... I fitted all the mech bits and Paul mapped the car for me using his knowlege and equipment, Me and andy both made 400+ using Pauls Maps. I would definately reccomend him as someone to buy a Scoobyecu from especially if you want a Map that isnt 'ready made'.
This is not a dig at any of the other suppliers, i am just a very happy costumer of pauls....
I would also like to add, my car was mapped for 1.8bar of boost... It only made 1.62 on the rollers and had a split in the inlet pipe which happened on the way to Power Engineering causing it to run lean... given my power figures it is obvious they may have been different if i had reached 1.8bar
Anyway...

I have a MY94 WRX and would like one of these ecu's, I have a spare ECU that I could send to anyone of you guys that supply them as I don't feel confident in soldering it in myself. If anyone is prepared to do this could you drop me an email howell@orange.net

Got mine on at last, Fitted myself pretty easy to do.
Runs very smooth did not notice a major difference in feel until I looked at the boost gauge and the speedo... sh*t 110mph already! (private rd of course)very impressed. Its good to know that if I want to go mad later I can Map it again myself or get someone to do me a one off.

Shoould be getting stock in early next week, of genuine 27C1028's
Had a batch of 10 and they only lasted me just over a week !!!
Last 2 went off on Friday and already have 3 allocated from the next batch.
Keep the enquiries coming and I'll 'TRY' to keep up with my stock ..
