foglights and an AFR gauge..?
#1
Hello,
Been a busy boy over the weekend and the car (fingers crossed) is running like a charm,
Need to install my AFR gauge, its a three wire job from Dawes™.
Red lead to 12v+
Black to ground (now it says to battery - but couldnt I just splice it into the stereo ground for ease?)
White to ECU connection,
how does it connect to the ECU? I will solder it I think but need to know where the connection is made please (MY99) AE801.
secondly, I want to replace my damaged fog light (NS) with one from a MY97 car, will it be a straight swap? will it be completely different to the OS (99) fog that is remaining?
cheers as always for the help
Andy
(this thread is also in electrical but there doesnt seem to be much action there)

I connected mine to the ECU with a scotch block. Not as good as soldering but a lot easier. Its very cramped down there you know! Think it was a white wire with grey dashes on it, can't remember what no. but I found it using search.

As Dave says, the '97 foglights will physically fit, but look cosmetically different from the later ones, so it may be worth either looking a bit harder for a '99-02 one, or taking the other one out and fitting covers.
The lambda input to the ECU is in the blue plug. If you look at the wiring side, it's the third row down, and third wire in from the right. Should be white with a black stripe.

And you should really earth it to the body where the ecu fastens down, then run a thick extra lead back to battery negative.
Those things run on very small voltages, so a poor connection will end up giving quite badly wrong readings.
