First Upgrades to MY99 Wagon
#1
Hi All,
Great site.
Just purchased a UK MY99 Wagon, 3 weeks ago and am looking to do some upgrades to performance.
Main thing is to try and reduce turbo lag. Am budgetting approx £1500.
It has been suggested that I put on a full stainless larger bore exhaust system, dump valve and ITG airfilter.
Any comments, suggestions, advice on places to have work done, most welcome.
Thanks,
Marion

You have an MY99 so stay away from any oil permeated panel filter or induction kit
The dump valve could potentially reduce performance and there can be a split moment when your car is effectively chronicly underfuelling, so think carefully before you go for that.
New backbox is a fair step
Then I would get a de-catted downpipe and let the thing breath
Then stick a Dawes valve on it to enable you to turn the boost up to around 1.1bar... noticeable difference
The downpipe and the Dawes will be the main help in relation to the above and the dawes is circa £50 (find them on here cheaper). A new downpipe (magnex twin or similar) will set you back around £130 plus fitting (again available in the For Sale section here no doubt)
If you are increasing the boost then I would recommend an AFR gauge (to check the car is fuelling ok) and a knocklink. If you do a search on these items you will find loads of info.
All the above will keep you well under your budget but keep dosh back as I have to buy 16 tyres a year doing circa 25k a year
Hope some of that helps
Cheers
