This morning, I have changed the lambda sensor for a generic halfrauds L300, I have also changed the MAF sensor for a OE item, I have also removed and regreased the idle solenoid.
what a transformation!!!
the idle is rock solid again and I am happy.
The lambda was grey/brown coloured at the tip and the new one was shiney and stainless.
I had changed the MAF for a second hand one but put a new one in just to be sure.
I used lithium grease on the solenoid.
all in all, wonderfull.
coupled with the fact that I have been checking all fluid levels and topping up the car is (touch wood) running like a dream.
The only downside to the day is that I over tightened the jubilee clip to the hard plastic intercooler pipe and have had to buy a replacement jubilee.
How tight are the jubilee clips supposed to be on the pipework in the engine bay?
can they be over tightened?
Andy (once again smiling like a child at my car)

The jubilee clips on the turbo to I/C pipe have to be as tight as ****, especially if you're using the horrible OE plastic pipe. Same goes for the clips on the I/C to throttle body pipe.
Insufficient tightening on one or more of these can produce small leaks that will take you ages to spot, as you'll think they're caused by a holed y-pipe or a leaking dumpvalve.
TBH this is one of the best reasons to get silicone based replacements. As well as the Y-pipe offering less constricted flow, they tend to seal much better against the spigots, without the need to murder the clips.
