Hey,

Just got the subaru and am well pleased with the motor. I do want a little more grunt from the exhaust though, and wonder if anyone has any comments on the SS box the main dealers will supply?

I got a quote of approx £320 to supply and fit. I do believe it's the same unit used in the Prodrive Performance Upgrade?

I want the nice deep burrble, with twin pipes.

thanks in advance......

I didn't think the PPP silencer had twin pipes...?

You haven't stated what MY your beloved is. But as I'm such a gent, New shape or Classic

If you specifically want a twin pipe silencer, you could go for the Mach 2, but it ain't cheap! There are some additional alternative single pipe silencers on This link

Regards,

Ade.

I've just received the Harward & Scott 3.5" silencer and downpipe, which will hopefully be fitted in the next few days. I doubt that will be particularly loud, certainly nothing like the Afterburner anyway! Should hopefully emphasise the flat four burble, and look a bit better than the OEM. Mind you, that's not hard! I'll let you know how it sounds.

Regards,

Ade.

PPP is not twin pipe, and you can't get that backbox separate from the PPP (it has a round x-section). There is another Prodrive performance backbox available separately from the PPP, which has an oval x-section. Not sure about performance comparisons between the two, but I imagine they're fairly similar.

Cheers Judge

I have ordered the PPP unit anyway. And yes, It is just a single pipe. No probs I guess.

Hope it sounds good. Anyone have one fitted to their car?? Comments?

Cheers

It's very subtle. Made by Scorpion, I think. Not a very popular upgrade choice, as most people choosing to upgrade are after more noise. Looks great though, much better than the original twin pea-shooters. And it's got Prodrive stamped across it

Thumbs up

The PPP and SS backboxes are 2 different items, although they look quite similar.

I have the SS and it is much louder than the PPP. On idle and low speeds it fairly quiet, nice burble. When nailing it, it is loud and people do often turn around and look.

spadds... get in touch with me (I'm in Wakefield)

No point paying the dealer silly prices. Buy one second hand (bear in mind these things are Stainless - and some carry a 25 year warranty!) for less than half the price - and fitting is a doddle.

I don't have a backbox for sale - although I will have a full 3" (3-piece with open-neck downpipe and built-in high-flow sports cat) stainless Graham Goode system coming up VERY soon.

Mine's still on the car at the moment. Its a FULL system - Graham Goode.

Complete exhaust systems
We firmly believe that our 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems are the best on the market not only for performance but also quality of fit and manufacture. Made exclusively to our own design by the manufacturers of the majority of Formula one, Sports and Touring Car exhaust systems made in the UK.They have a complete stainless steel construction, including the welds and silencer packing. (the cheaper alternative silencer packing is fibreglass wool; this can degrade over a period of time and reduce its silencing abilities). We offer systems either with or without sports catalytic converter. Enabling cars to pass both UK MOT and any roadside vehicle emissions tests. Each system will give you noticeable increases in power (10 Bhp nominal) and greatly improved throttle response.

GGS374 With catalyst and 3 1/2" round tail £699.00
-->Link <--

Unfortunately, the exhaust will have to go as a whole unit, as it is not compatible with either the Subaru, or the Scoobysport systems.

I'll be sticking it on eBay, but if you can meet my proposed reserve, then I'm sure we can sort it ... and maybe fit it for you if you're local?

** Edited to say that I will hopefully have the unit off the car within a week **

...and further to my last... my car is a wagon. This exhaust is probably the best compromise for a full system if you want power, but not the noise.

I've just come back from a 2000 mile round-trip to the south of France, and the kids were still sane when we got back

...well... about as sane as you can get anyway

Give me an email, or a phone. If you email me, I'll send my phone number.
