In general, unless you are either clued up enough to want to alter the mapping yourself, or want to do something the standard ECU literally can't handle (like extra injectors, ALS etc. etc.), EcuTeK is probably the more practical option. It's certainly cheaper.
GEMS will cost you a lot more than £1800 once installed and mapped...

So if it has been rebuilt and does not run properly then what was the spec of your rebuild?
Why would a standard rebuild chnage your compression ratio so significantly that it wouldn't run?!
Before spending any money on an ECU I would check out everything after the rebuild.
The overbore would give a greater swept volume and so if all else had not changed - the compression ratio would actually go up slightly.
Once that is done - a good Ecutek map is probably the best value way forward.

If you email Pat, I'm sure he would re-map your ECU for less than a 1/3 of the cost of the Gems.

Check out the Apexi Power FC ECU group buy being discussed. This will be under £1k all in and mapped. You then have a fully remappable ECU which is future 'tweek' friendly and which also has a good resale value when/if you change cars.
As for power limit on the PFC, a TD05 won't get anywhere near it !
cheers

i think im going to go FM TD05/6 with the 550 inj as jonny spoke to you today andy
the car is running mint apart from the rvs drop if you drop acceleration from 3/4g it cuts out ticks over mint too
it just catches you out when you dont expect it only 350m to go now and i can start to sort her out the headers wont be helping eather
time will tell
