Ok their has been lots of talk regarding that oil you should use on these boards of late. What I want to know is why Subaru recommend in their hand book for the 03WRX a 5W30 oil, this is all inface of Mobil supplying ONLY Subaru dealers with Mobil One 5W40. I would think that 5W30 is a little to thin for general use.

Some menbers on this board recommend 10W40, some 15W50 and others 10W60.

With all this taking into account it can get a little confusing.

If you choose to read a little bit further on and actually look at the temperature graphs, it recommends different oil viscosities for varying climates. So for "normal" European useage, it suggests routine 10w/40 oils. Only where the climate is colder do the suggest the lower thinness of 5w oil to aid easier engine cold start cranking speed.

So, to say, stick to 10w/40, you wont get it wrong.
