Morning all!
Im due to pick up my V5 Type R in a couple of weeks and had a plan.
Instead of driving it home about 400 miles without a knocklink, ive wired the positive and neg into a *** lighter socket to plug in temporary until i get back.
Question is the sensor itself.
It says in the instructions,
The earth terminal can determined by checking for continuity between the body of the sensor and the earth terminal
Simple, but on checking with my multi meter, there is no continuity between either terminal and the body of the sensor!
Ive seen Craigfin's thread the other day about the same thing, so does this matter or not and just put the brown and black on either?

As far as I know if you are using a Bosch sensor neither of the terminals go to earth, it doesn't matter which way round you connect the two sensor wires.

Thats correct Ed, do not use the OE. sensor, you must use a seperate sensor to the ECU.

Rob, ok with what your saying, ive got the bosch sensor that came with the Knocklink so it will be totaly independent from the factory knock sensor and system.
Thanks for the help guys

Hello Gary,

I fitted my Knocklink yesterday and its a piece of pi$$. My car is also a V5 Type-R. The sensitivity is set to max and I can't even get the second green light to flash. If I tap the sensor lightly with a screwdriver, I can get the red warning light to flash. I presume all is well.
I also tried to do the continuity thing with my multimeter and apparently it doesn't apply to our sensors. Just clag the wires up either way.

Good luck with the motor,

Craig.

Question

I've just fitted my knocklink to my 98my Turbo - it stays on green the whole time, but I can get red if I give it a good tap with a spanner....

Does that sound right ?

Mark

Sounds about rite Mark, just leave it on Max sens, if it all lights up when you tap it, that way you know it works and if anything does go amiss, you know its gona let you know

Is full sensitivity fully clockwise on the adjuster on top of the light display ?

Cheers,

Mark

PS _ I'd have thought it would have to knock like hell to show up
