does it work......a strutbar !

JP,
it sounds like when you fitted the strut brace you inadvertently adjusted your camber adversely. This is a common problem when fitting strut braces but is easily cured by getting the camber checked and adjusted next service or at a specialist.
Ironically,I think a lot of the improvements to handling that some people fitting such items claim to have experienced probably come down to the bar altering the negative camber (perceptively favourably) as the structural rigidity of the Impreza is such that a strut-bar,front or rear, is not strictly necessary.
I do agree it does look good though (I've got an OMP front bar fitted as well though I wouldn't try to claim it improved the handling!)

I've got an STi carbon fibre one (came with the car - wouldn't have bought it !) which as far as I'm concerned just makes the car look nice - doesn't feel any more rigid to me, but it has been a while since I drove a "standard" Impreza. We've also got struts in the front and back in our FTO and it makes the car feel really solid (glad I've got plenty of "rear padding"). I guess the only way you could really tell is to set the tracking properly and do a before and after adjusting it each time.
cheers
