300 bhp target what else shell i do?
#1
got a 93 wrx import with the following mods
hks exhaust system
including de-cat and down pipe
performance air filter
boost controller
uprated fuel pump
car is running @ 11 psi
the figures for these mods on the rolling were 244 bhp and 271 torque. I wanna push my car to around 300 bhp and i thought of doing these mods next and was wondering if anyone could tell me what bhp increase i should see with the mod and what other mods i could do to help me hit the 300 bhp target
scooby ecu
sti 6 / later style intercooler
uni chip? ( not sure about this)
besides that im not sure what other mods to undetake in getting more power out my car.

Hi,
244 is a low bhp figure to say your torque is so high. I would suspect therefore that your torque curve drops off quite a bit, hence your bhp is reduced.
Does the car's boost drop off a bit?
Which boost controller are you using?
A ScoobyECU would be a good idea, especially with yours being an import. I'd probably try running a little more boost than you are at present too (but I would use octane booster if you don't already). You turbo is hardly getting going at 11psi. Mine runs over 20psi (with suitable safeguards of course).

Hi,
I also have a 93WRX Import with similar mods, and as you i'm looking for 300bhp...
My currnet mods are:
Mongoose de cat system, unknown downpipe (not sure if it's a performance one, gonna change it soon).
Boost controller at 12.5psi,
STI 5/6 Intercooler,
HKS Mushroom Filter,
Baileys D valve,
It was RR'd at Interpro in Bristol a while back @ 247bhp and 249lft torque, this was without the IC and on standard boost though...
I'm hopeing to see 300bhp with a scoobyECU, and better downpipe, and maybe turn the boost up on the ScoobyECU...
What does everyone think, can us 93 Import boys see this power with these mods...!!!

you won,t go far wrong with a scoobyecu, i have seen some good results from them on the rolling road.
another mod you could try is porting the standard headers, that will help thing along a bit.
as for boost you should be running around 14 psi to get the most from your mods, this is just below fuel cut on your cars and is still quite safe.
a good idea is to get some sort of monitoring equipment, you will need a knocklink and an AFR gauge before you go any further to make sure you are not getting detination or running lean.

I also have a MY93:
Scoobysport full system
HKS induction
Scoobyecu
Turbosmart boost controller (set to 15.5psi)
Ran @ Well Lane without ECU and only 11.5psi and got 249bhp/214lb/ft
Guesstimating 280 - 290bhp with ECU/boost changes. I reckon I'll play it safe and go for injectors/fuel pump/intercooler changes before going for the big 300.

You will struggle to get 300bhp safely on the standard injectors (380's) Mine were 100%IDC at 293bhp, though you may squeeze the extra out of them if you up the fuel pressure. Either way you will need a decent remap. Mine produced 293bhp and 271 lb/ft with:
Blitz induction kit
Scoobysport downpipe and backbox
Power Engineering Phase 1 remap

I currently have a MY93 WRX last measured at 256bhp 223lb/ft at Power Engineering with the following mods
PE phase1 remap (think taht about 12.5 psi correct me if im wrong)
Afterburner back box
Since then it has had
Blitz SUS induction filter
MRT inlet plenumb
Magnex resonated centre
Ported OEM headers
recon its at about 275bhp,and its got comming
STi5 intercooler (being modded)
Samcos on the rest of the induction (being delivered)
H&S downpipe with splitter (waiting to be fitted)
Walbro Fuel pump (waiting till I have an uprated FPR and I know what im doing)
which should be good for about 300bhp alos planning a possible remap to keep it safe excuses excuses

this was running 300bhp http://217.79.111.23/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=210944
it had a phase on chip running at 1.15 bar with HKS D/P, Blitz Nur Spec R, K & N Induction kit and not amny other toys.....
you boys with the Bigger I/C's should get mapped for higher boost (think you may have to change the map bar sensor) but also make sure your fuel pump is up to the job or your engine will go pop!!!

think best thing is get intercooler, scooby ecu, and then turn the boost up to 15psi and see how the car runs, and then ill have to look @ getting new injectors i think
